The Society sponsors an Annual Symposium on Arabic linguistics (ASAL), the first held in 1987 and hosted by the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Since then the annual symposia have remained the core function of the ALS with over 20 other major universities hosting the symposia. ALS members and guests of this website are welcome to browse through the history of these symposia through our Symposia Programs section, which includes as many recent and not so recent programs we were able to recover from a time when internet and web browsing was not as popular.
